Ketton Climate Action

Ketton Climate Action was formed in Autumn 2021 as part of the broader Rutland Climate Action initiative, established after Rutland County Council declared a climate crisis earlier in the year. The aim of Ketton Climate Action is to promote and encourage community actions which help to combat climate change.
Example of activities in Ketton during our first year include:
• regular community litter picks
• an exhibition of artwork by Ketton school pupils on what climate change means to them
• a “dreaming of a Green Christmas” display in St Mary’s Church
• a Green Hearts trail for Valentines Day
• visits to Ketton by a Refill Roadster
• a climate change survey of local residents
• a “good as new” re-use stall at the village Jubilee fete
• a film screening at Stamford Arts Centre
• encouraging participation in national campaigns. e.g. the Big Plastics Count, No Mow May
• Ketton’s first ever Green Festival with participation from many village organisations.
• Regular articles in Chatterbox (“Hot tips to cool the Planet”)
We work closely with like minded groups in the village, such as Ketton Seed Swap https://www.facebook.com/groups/128175479155631 and the Ketton Green Spaces Group https://www.facebook.com/kettongreenspaces/
For information on the Ketton Climate Action’s future activities please follow the group on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/4625358140859814/ or Twitter (@KettonClimate) https://twitter.com/KettonClimate.
The Rutland Climate Action website includes useful resources. The news section contains information on upcoming events and reports on past events, including those in Ketton (https://rutlandclimateaction.org/news) and the community strategy section sets out detailed action plans (https://rutlandclimateaction.org/community-strategy).
Can you help?
With more volunteers Ketton Climate Action can extend its activities, maybe including home insulation projects, a car share or car club scheme, more and better information for Ketton residents on sustainable living, green energy generation projects?
If you would like more information or are interested in helping with future activities, please contact the group via the parish office: kettonpc@btinternet.com
